If you happen to find that the music of this artist sounds somewhat outdated. Do not attempt to adjust your headphones or stereo controls. This Is Intentional. Singer, Songwriter and Musician TONY JAMES' sound is very retro-80's R&B PopFunk ala..Electronic Drum Fills, Analog Synth Bass, etc while also keeping up with todays modern R&B sound. But unlike today loop/sample heavy R&B Tony does not use any samples or loops off other peoples records. Instead he chooses to create music inspired by todays' sound. All of this is what you will find on Tony's C.D. titled THE PRODUCT. An album that he's been working on since early 90's. That's a long time to finish one recording but he blames it all on perfection. " when i started this thing i was really into what was happening in 90's music. I really wanted to make something that sounded good but just then things sounded good. Styles changed, Music changed all things changed and that sent me back to the stone ages" Now finally he has decided to just do what sounds good to him. " I want to make music that sounds commercial to me rather then chase after trends. I've always loved 80's funk music and i want to make the kind of music i have always loved" Not only is that true for the music but also for the way Tony records his music as well. He does not use Pro-Tools or Computers everything is recorded the old fashion. With the exception of his Drum Machine all the instruments are played by him (which is strictly Keyboards). The first single You Don't Know How To Treat My Love was actually released back in 1993 as a cassette single and got reviewed in various review publications and was passed around to record pools as well. This would be the only recording that got released in the 90's. " The response i got from people wanting to hear my music was pretty good. I just wish i had more material ready to keep their interest back then." THE PRODUCT is still in production but he is happy by the way its coming along. Some of the other songs like: This Is da Night and Sunflower Girl sound promising as well. He hopes to have the c.d. ready very soon but might not see light of day til 2007. " I hope to establish an audience with this c.d. i want to reach people who enjoy my music as much as i enjoy creating it. This c.d. is all me. I wrote all the songs and played all the instuments myself. It feels good to have all the control"
